Domains

Every Dataset is registered to a Domain. This Domain can be referred as a type of Business/Industry/Purpose or some other type of specification, this helps to maintain and segregate data between different Datasets.

When creating a Dataset, you must have a Domain. For example, if you have two Datasets that hold medical and infrastructure data, it would be useful to have two separate Domains, one for medical and one for infrastructure.

info

Datasets and View Names must be unique within a given Domain. It is not possible to have two Datasets with the same name in a single Domain, although datasets having same names can exist across different Domains.

How to add a Domain?

To create a domain:

  1. Click on +
  2. Fill in the below information:
TypeDescription
Domain NameA unique name that is given to the DeepSearch Index.
Display NameWith Display name, view the existing index in the Amorphic Data Cloud.
DescriptionDescribe the domain purpose.

For a Multi-tenancy deployment, Domains are considered as a part of tenants. You can decide which Domain belongs to a given tenant. The Domains made for a tenant should have the tenant's name in front, except for the standard tenant. To learn more, refer Tenants documentation.

For example, to create a Domain "finance" under a tenant "testing", the Domain Name should be "testing_finance". However, in the case of a default tenant, if you want to create a Domain "finance" under the default tenant, the Domain Name will be simply "finance".

Note

You cannot delete a Domain with datasets attached; you must first delete the datasets associated with the domain. Full access is required to delete a dataset.

Access Control

To create a dataset, access to the Domain is required. Access control is similar to other features, meaning that if you create a Domain, you will get owner access and can provide access to others using authorized groups and users.

info

Only those with at least read-only access to the Domain can be granted access to the dataset and views.
